Summer Youth Work-Experience Programs
Experience the world of work and its requirements through both paid and unpaid work experiences. This is a great opportunity for career exploration, skill development and building a resume. Jobs may consist of a 30-40 hr. / week work for approximately two months during the summer. We also provide guidance filling out job applications, interviewing and writing a resume at the end of the season.
Develop Leadership Qualities
Employers look for leadership and team-player qualities in the people they hire. Jobs etc. can help you improve your employability by acquiring these skills. We assist in finding opportunities to perform community service projects, speak in front of groups of peers and adults, and work in team units.
Tutoring
If you are a high school student who needs help on one or two subjects, Jobs etc. can provide you with tutoring services. We also assist out-of-school youth prepare for the GED test or home schooled youth get a diploma through a correspondence-type school. Individual instruction may include study skills training, computer assisted learning and adult mentoring.
Supportive services
If you are interested in participating in some of our programs, but lack transportation or other necessary services, help may be available. Your Jobs etc. counselor can explore the options open to you.
Adult mentoring
If you need extra support and guidance from a mature, responsible adult, Jobs etc. has links with community and faith-based organizations. We can team you up with an adult who will work with you one-on-one throughout the year.
